Herein is a list of all of the projects on my various assortment of back burners, and (if applicable) how many parts remain. Short blurbs will tend to accompany them as well.

I've switched to this instead of a "WIP" list primarily because I have a number of proposed projects which aren't actually started yet. The list is organized by fandom, universe-within-fandom, and alphabetical order. The organization of the list does not reflect priority in terms of when they'll be written.

#7 of 14 Valentines
Topic of the Day: Women in Athletics. Today's topic is one that is near and dear to my heart. I was a Title IX child, first female in the history of my school to compete on the Varsity Wrestling Team. I was proud beyond measure when a woman won a gold medal in wrestling at the 2008 Olympics. However, I have also had first-hand experience with the fact that Title IX is not perfect, and women are still consistently shorted when it comes to options and resources - especially in academic-athletic settings. The legislation itself can be problematic, because the recourse if a school refuses to provide an equivalent program for women is a lawsuit for said opportunity, and as often as not the end result is the removal of a men's team because there aren't the resources to fund two teams. It's a mess, and while it's getting better, there's still a long ways to go. The only way we're going to get there is if we keep our eyes open, and make sure our voices remain loud and strong.

Title: The International Society of Serving Men
Author: [info]miriel
Fandom(s): Avengers (New, Classic, Other) (Marvel), Batman (DC), Torchwood, Tomb Raider, and Due South
Rating: PG
Author's Note: This is crack, written at the behest of [info]buzzylittleb for a belated birthday present. No idea if it's what she wanted, but here it is.

Summary: In his own defense, Tony had never really thought about Jarvis' social life... )

If anyone's interested, I got roped into taking part in [info]tardis_bigbang this year (it started with [info]kijikun asking for sounding board assistance, and grew into my co-authoring a 53,000 word fic in about a month and a half). The archive went live today, so I'm pimping it to all and sundry.

Title: Strangely Attractive
Authors: [info]kijikun and [info]miriel
Beta: [info]hllangel
Rating: NC-17 (Gasp! Shock! I never write NC-17)
Pairing: Gwen Cooper/John Hart; also Jack Harkness/Ianto Jones
Spoilers: Torchwood, Primarily through "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang", although there are allusions to a few other S2 episodes. Nothing past "Adam".
Author's Note: As noted above, not something I'd intended to get involved with, and due to scheduling nightmares, I was actually off-line for most of the month before the final draft went in, but it was a fun project to be involved with. Certainly not a fic I'd have written otherwise ^_^

Summary: "We're business partners, or were. That might not be a ring and a garter, but in my experience it lasts longer. Well, unless my business partner tries to kill me, but I never start it."

Also, as it was part of TBB, we were lucky enough to have 2 artists contribute their efforts to the cause. Especially of note is [info]settiai, who pulled together a vid - a feat doubly remarkable given the limited time John Hart was doing his thing on camera. Savi contributed still art.

So go! Read! Mine, Others, it's all good!!

Title: The Torchwood Paper Trail
Author: [info]miriel
Betae: [info]adafrog and [info]kijikun
Fandom: Torchwood
Rating: PG
Author's Note: This is, completely and entirely, the fault of [info]kijikun. She saw my SGC Euphemisms List and demanded something similar in the Torchwood vein. So, here it is. As always, suggestions loved.

Title: 3B. Problematic Exs - Rhys Williams (5/7)
Series: Bits of Bliss (5 Reasons Not to Tie the Knot) (Previous Instalment: 3A. Problematic Exs - Diane Holmes)
Universe: Bound
Author: [info]miriel
Beta-Types: [info]kijikun, [info]adafrog
Pairing: Gwen/Owen
Rating: PG - Language
Spoilers: Through "End of Days" on general principles, nothing for S2
Author's Notes: This piece is one of the BoB instalments which were originally to be published as a separate series known as "The Diane Project." This part clocks in at around 3,100 words, and is one of the main reasons why I did not get this whole mess complete before Jan 16. Such is life, however, and I am deeply indebted to everyone who's dealt with my horrendous flailing of the last few weeks.
Secondary Author's Note: For general reference, I'm using the air date for "Everything Changes" as the beginning date for events in canon. That places "Out of Time" (01x10) at Christmas, 2006, and "End of Days" in early spring of 2007. "Bound & Sealed," the first piece in the Bound Universe, occurs the following fall.

Summary: You see, here I was, thinking I'm doing a good thing introducing myself to the chit's parents, and what do I get for my trouble? A punch in the eye, is what. And what I'm damn lucky isn't turning out to be a concussion. )

Title: 3A. Problematic Exs - Diane Holmes (4/7)
Series: Bits of Bliss (5 Reasons Not to Tie the Knot) (Previous Instalment: 2. Interior Decorating)
Universe: Bound
Author: [info]miriel
Beta-Type Consultants: [info]kijikun, [info]adafrog, [info]saklani2, and [info]ladyholder
Pairing: Gwen/Owen
Rating: PG
Spoilers: Through "End of Days" on general principles
Author's Notes: This piece represents the first of the BoB instalments which were originally to be published as a separate series known as "The Diane Project." It gave me a Hell of a time, and has ended up clocking in around 4,000 words, making it the longest segment to date. I'm still shooting to be done before TW S2 airs in the UK, but it's going to be a close shave.

Summary: At five o'clock on an October morning, Gwen could think of plenty of places she might want to be. All of them warmer, drier, and decidedly less windy than the grass next to a runway at Cardiff International Airport. )

Title: 1B. Family Obligations - Holidays (2/7)
Series: Bits of Bliss (5 Reasons Not to Tie the Knot) (Previous Instalment: 1A. Weddings)
Universe: Bound
Beta-Type Consultants: [info]kijikun and [info]adafrog
Pairing: Gwen/Owen
Rating: PG
Spoilers: Through "End of Days" on general principles
Author's Notes: This segment lays some important groundwork for the future, but good gods it did not wish to be written, and certainly not on a schedule. Enjoy it, and feel free to toss con-crit my direction. This instalment clocks in at around 3,600 words.

Summary: 'Ow. What was that for?' Owen rubbed the back of his head, but didn't bother getting up from his seat at the breakfast bar. 'Your sister-in-law is named Janet. What the Hell do you think it was for?' )

HGP Recipient: [info]missyvortexdv, who asked for "I think Torchwood. Something only semi-angsty with Gwen, Owen, Gwen/Owen or maybe Susie character piece set pre-series/pilot ep. For a more specific prompt how about Owen gets invited to a wedding. Bit cliché maybe for a prompt to be made shipping possibly but I reckon you can do cliché things without them turning out cliché. ;)"

Title: 1A. Family Obligations - Weddings
Series: Bits of Bliss (5 Reasons Not to Tie the Knot)
Universe: Bound
Beta-Type Consultants: [info]kijikun and [info]adafrog
Pairing: Gwen/Owen
Rating: PG
Spoilers: Through "End of Days" on general principle
Author's Notes: Originally, Bits of Bliss was going to be a 5-Things style short collection to balance Slices of Monogamy. In an effort to beat the release of TW S2 (and because I can't control my own word-count), it's been combined with another project-in-progress within the Bound universe into a 7 part series. This instalment clocks in at 3,750 words.

Summary: 'Next time you get into a fight with my mum, I want you to remember that this is me being supportive.' Gwen was halfway out of the car before she realized the inequality in his statement. 'But I *like* your mum!' )

Title: Everything Its Price
Author: [info]miriel
Rating: PG
Pairing: Gwen/Owen
Spoilers: Through "End of Days" (01x13)
Author's Note: I've had "Dirty Little Secret" by All American Rejects stuck in my head all evening. I blame that, and a desperate need to procrastinate, for this ficlet. Word-count circa 600. Title credit goes to [info]saklani2.

Summary: Always. Always there is pain. )

Title: Slices of Monogamy
Sequel To: Bound & Sealed
Author: [info]miriel
Beta: [info]saklani2
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Gwen/Owen
Spoilers: Obliquely through "End of Days" (01x13)
Author's Note: I've thrown in the towel, and am posting the sequel set to B & S sooner, rather than later. This was to be the first of two scene collections. The second, Bits of Bliss, has morphed into a series which is currently in-progress. A link can be found at the bottom of the entry.

Summary: Five ways the word gets out. )

Title: Bound & Sealed
Universe: Bound
Author: [info]miriel
Beta: [info]saklani2
Pairings: Gwen/Owen. Jack/Ianto.
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: Through “End of Days” (01x13)
Author's Note: First off, I've had a huge amount of help from any number of people. You all know who you are, and I give you most hearty thanks. Second, this wasn't supposed to be 10,000 words. That was an accident. This was also going to originally be one of my Valentines. Due to popular demand, it's been moved up the queue and posted early.

Summary: Oh, come *on*. Don't sound so scandalized. Everyone knows that the Welsh No-Fault Divorce Bill passed in 20...oh. Damn. Um, oops? )

Title: Denial
Author: [info]miriel
Quickie-Beta: [info]saklani2
Rating: PG
Spoilers: This is set somewhere after Countrycide (01x06), but before we had the calendar canon of Out of Time (01x10).
Author's Note: Written for [info]kari_hermione, who asked for fic about Valentine's Day when I was putzing around and asked for a prompt. This isn't quite the fluff she wanted (sorry!), nor does it reference her requested pairing aside from an allusion (again, sorry!), but I still kind of like it. 700-odd words. Saki gets credit for the title.

Summary: Valentine's Day had never been Toshiko's favourite holiday. )

ETA: There may, or may not, be a rose-scented sequel piece. Thoughts?

Title: All In
Author: [info]miriel
Beta: The lovely [info]saklani2
Rating: PG
Pairing: Gwen/Rhys
Spoilers: Through "Combat" (01x11)
Author's Note: Written for the Double or Nothing prompt on [info]tw_flashfic. I'd been meaning to write a fic about Rhys and "Combat" (had originally planned to write it for the "Out of Time" prompt, actually), and this turned out to be just the right prompt for it ^_^ 700-odd words.

Summary: It started with a fight.

Title: Hold Fast the Night
Author: [info]miriel
Rating: PG-ish for language
Pairings: Implied - Gwen/Rhys, Gwen/Owen
Spoilers: Countrycide, obliquely
Author's Note: A last minute scramble for the [info]tw_flashfic "Out of Time" prompt, which the mod was kind enough to extend when I asked nicely. Still learning the lay of the land here in Torchwood, and this is my first attempt at Gwen, so let me know if I botch anything drastically. 1600+ words.

Summary: Finally, finally, she slips into bed, giving Rhys a light peck on the cheek before nestling down and closing her eyes.

Title: Fifteen Minutes
Author: [info]miriel
Rating: PG
Pairing: Jack/Ianto. Ianto/Lisa.
Spoilers: Explicit spoilers through "They Keep Killing Suzie", but you never know what slips through the rift that is Series 1, so read at your own risk.
Author's Note: My first attempt at Torchwood fic, of any kind. Not the pairing or perspective I'd originally planned on, but sometimes Flashfic does funny things. Written for the Out of Time prompt on [info]tw_flashfic. 800-odd words.

Summary: They say that everyone is entitled to fifteen minutes of fame...

Secondary Author's Note: Dude. I wrote something. I am truly amazed right now. Please let me know how badly it sucked, because I fully admit to being out of practice at this writing.
