Herein is a list of all of the projects on my various assortment of back burners, and (if applicable) how many parts remain. Short blurbs will tend to accompany them as well.

I've switched to this instead of a "WIP" list primarily because I have a number of proposed projects which aren't actually started yet. The list is organized by fandom, universe-within-fandom, and alphabetical order. The organization of the list does not reflect priority in terms of when they'll be written.

Updated: 18 May, 2009

Stargate Atlantis )
Torchwood )
Various & Sundry (Less than 3 Fics in the Fandom, Crossovers, Gift!Fic, Etc) )

Author's Confession: There were supposed to be 6 of these. Unfortunately, [info]crimsonquills requested Marvel Adventures, which is the one branch of Avengers I don't know enough about to write comfortably. Thus, she is more than welcome to submit a new prompt in the comments here, and I'll have it posted by the morning. Otherwise, I want to thank everyone who submitted prompts - I've been having one of those periods where it's been just long enough since you wrote/published anything that you begin to wonder if your writing is any good. Hopefully, this will be the breakthrough I needed to haul myself back onto the wagon for a while ^_~

'Blow to the Ego' - Smallville – Chloe/Oliver )
'Sooner or Later, Boom' – SGA – Gen, Sheppard & McKay )
NCIS – Gen, Gibbs & DiNozzo )
'In Passing' - CSI: NY – Danny/Mac )
'Fact-Based' – CSI: Miami – Horatio/Speed )

Title: Meet the Novaks (4/4)
Previous Parts: 1, 2, 3, and the Interlude (2A)
Universe: Memoirs
Author: [info]miriel
Pairing: Lorne/Novak
Rating: PG
Author's Note: This part concludes the final installment in the "Memoirs" universe. It's been almost exactly two years in the making. I'll be doing a general clean-up of the webpages associated with the universe in the next week or so (including some possible beta-work on a few which never got that second glance), but the basic content is in. W00T! Thanks to everyone who's been cheerleading this along so diligently. This part clocks in at a surprising high 4,500 words. I hope you enjoy it, and as always, feel free to leave con-crit.

Summary: The first sign was the silence. )

Title: Meet the Novaks (3/4)
Previous Parts: 1, 2, and Interlude
Universe: Memoirs
Author: [info]miriel
Beta: [info]ladyholder
Pairing: Lorne/Novak
Rating: PG
Author's Note: There are, I am told, quite a number of people who will be pleased to see this particular project resurrected from the depths. [info]druidspell and [info]loriel_eris get credit as head cheerleaders for their sheer persistence in the matter. Thanks to everyone who's put up with my flailing and OOC-concerns, and reassured me that I'm not completely out in left field. Well, most of the time, anyway. This one clocked in at around 3300 words.

Summary: I can't change the past. I don't even know if I'd want to, to be honest. But I'm here now, so what do you want from me? )

This is primarily for [info]loriel_eris, who mentioned that the timeline for Bridges always confused her a bit. Since the "official" chronology page is organized by story arc instead of dates, I wanted to toss up a short "this happened here" overview.

They did what with who?? )

Questions, comments - I'll clarify things, if I can. This is just a really basic overview on what happens when (or at least I tried to make it thus).

Note: This is merely a glance at the major events of the universe, not a comprehensive breakdown nor a projected to-do list. The Bridges Chronology contains a more complete listing of the works in the universe, organized by character arc. There are 4 - Gen (mostly short glimpses into the lives of everyday characters on both sides of the divide), Elizabeth Weir (including her relationship with Ladon Radim), Kate Heightmeyer (focusing on the rebuilding of the mental health of both the individuals and the AE group, as well as her relationship with Brendan Elliot), and Miko Kusanagi (centering around her relationship with Captain Cushman, her former off-world team leader, and a romance of both convenience and misunderstanding). This is just in place to clarify some of the details which aren't explicitly stated in the currently published stories and chrono.

Title: John Smith, ABD
Universe: Bridges
Author: [info]miriel
Rating: PG
Author's Note: A birthday present for one of the reasons I'm still (mostly) sane, both in and out of fandom - [info]ladyholder. This probably isn't exactly what she had in mind, but I hope she'll like it anyway. Thanks to [info]druidspell for some off-the-cuff editing advice. Roughly 1,600 words. Tied, indirectly, to this, which is the brochure for the conference which follows the one in this fic.

Summary: Conference in Maui, the website said. Bursaries available, the website said. They forgot to mention that it was members only, and John Smith just had one of those names... )

Title: From Tears to Tribbles
Universe: Memoirs, primarily a sequel to Contact.
Author: [info]miriel
Beta: [info]ladyholder (who also gets title credit)
Rating: PG
Author's Note: Second half of [info]adafrog's birthday present. A brief, 600-odd word day-in-the-life following Contact.

Summary: Some elements of childcare are universal, wherever the child may be. )

Title: Contact
Universe: Memoirs, primarily a sequel to Re-Connect.
Author: [info]miriel
Rating: PG
Author's Note: More a ficlet than an actual fic, clocking in at 900 words, this is a (very) belated birthday present for [info]adafrog, who wanted to see Ben Sheppard back in Atlantis. Somewhat of a correlary to Our Children's Children. I will also note, I fell off the fic-writing band-wagon for a bit there, so please forgive me my trespasses in advance.

Summary: Three years after Re-Connect, Ben Sheppard's life changed for the better. )

Title: Too Good To Be True
Universe: Ripples
Author: [info]miriel
Rating: PG (13?) for language
Pairing: Sandy-the-Admin/Joe-from-IT
Author's Note: [info]druidspell asked for something from Ripples with Sandy, the ordinary secretary who gets hired to work at PegCorp, LLC, the shell corporation through which Free Atlantis conducts its Earth-side affairs. A few others also asked for Indy-Atlantis stuff, which is my excuse for why this is over 1500 words. Not exactly what most of you were expecting, I'm sure, but it's what ended up popping out. Comments/Criticisms/etc always welcome. Really not sure what I think of this bitlet.

ETA: The History of the Wraith as per the Ripples Universe (which, keep in mind, pre-dates Season 3), is recommended reading to fully understand this fic.

Summary: It took a few months, but Sandy realized that life at PegCorp had a rhythm. It wasn't the same as a normal law office, but there was a routine of sorts. Most days she worked the front desk, doing miscellaneous paperwork when the need arose. She even got to know the interns as more-than-passing acquaintances. They were good kids, once you got past the the oddities. There were a lot of oddities. )

[info]14valentines Day Five: Sexuality

Title: Hybridity
Author: [info]miriel
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis
Rating: PG
Author's Notes: This was supposed to go up yesterday, both as Valentine #4 and as a birthday gift for [info]wychwood (a short B-Day gift, I know, but at least I stuck with the spirit of your request). Sadly, yesterday was my start-of-travel, and the hotel I stayed in had no internet (I have a 7AM flight and so couldn't take a morning ferry). Sorry!
Secondary Author's Note: The title comes from a term used in Post-Colonial Theory.

Summary: Alike, but not alike. Us, and yet not us. )

HGP Recipient: [info]lilyoftheval5, who asked for "Hmm, how about Stargate: Atlantis. I was always wondering how you would do a genderbender."

Fic: Rumour Has It
Author: [info]miriel
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis
Pairing: Chuck/OFC(?)
Spoilers: General S2
Rating: PG
Author's Note: Never written a gender-bender before, and even this is rather tame compared to most of the examples out there, but I made a stab at it. Interested to hear what you all think of it. Around 400 words.

Summary: Apparently, there are some topics even the Atlantis rumour mill won't touch. )

HGP Recipient: [info]m7storyteller, who asked for "I was wondering if you might could write something with [Lorne/Novak]?

If so, maybe something with them and Christmas, since it's that time of year?"

Title: Seasonal Affective
Author: [info]miriel
Rating: PG
Pairing: Lorne/Novak
Spoilers: General S2? Nothing specific
Author's Note: I've been neglecting Lorne & Novak for a while, and though it was a bit of a struggle, I'm glad to be kicking around with them again. This can be seen as an indirect sequel to Rainy Days, but this stands on its own, as well. Clocks in around 750 words.

Summary: I mean, I'm not normally oblivious, right? )

HGP Recipient: [info]rokeon, who wanted "I'm currently waiting impatiently for Voyage of the Damned, so for a prompt... how about Ten and John Sheppard meeting in some situation where it's not immediately obvious that the Doctor is a time-travelling alien?"

Title: The People You Meet in Prisons
Author: [info]miriel
Fandoms: Stargate: Atlantis, Doctor Who (10)
Spoilers: General for S2 Atlantis, Pre-Martha Doctor 10 (Post Runaway Bride)
Rating: PG
Author's Note: Don't ask me where this came from, because aside from the basics of [info]rokeon's prompt, I really couldn't tell you. Title is highly unoriginal, but my brain just refuses to come up with anything better. Sorry! Word-count is 1,229.

Summary:Over the course of his time in the Pegasus Galaxy, John Sheppard had developed a rather intimate knowledge of low-tech prison technology. )

Title: Humans Are Weird
Author: [info]miriel
Rating: PG
Author's Note: Written for [info]plsteward, who wanted to see an Asgard introduced to human food. Around 700 words.

Summary: Less than three hours after joining the crew of the Daedalus, Hermiod was already contemplating the severity of the black mark that shirking a diplomatic posting would leave on his record. )

I know, I know. It's been forever since I posted anything, and I really and truly apologize. Life's been, err, kind of crazy the last four months lately. This is the first of the responses to the Prompt Me! post of July 3. They'll be going up over the next few days, and thanks to everyone who took the time to put in a request. Hey, look on the bright side - only a few months until I start my 14 Valentines preparations, and in late July the Ficathon responses start going up.

I'll get back to productive. Sometime. Early August at the latest, I swear.

And now, on to what you're all actually interested in:

Title: Lessons of Loss
Author: [info]miriel
Beta: [info]scififreak
Rating: PG
Author's Notes: I just about strangled [info]cesperanza through the web over this one - I scrambled and scrambled to get it done for the midnight deadline, and then she extended it (so I went and got a beta to look it over). Written for the [info]sga_flashfic prompt Backstory, at the behest of [info]cupidsbow.

Summary: For as long as she can remember, Teyla has known death.

Title: Gone, but not Forgotten 4 (of 6) - Deskbound
Previous Parts: Part 1 - Miko, Part 2 - Bates, Part 3 - Jack
Universe: Bridges
Author: [info]miriel
Pairing/Rating: Implied Gibbs/DiNozzo, PG-13
Warnings: Well, it's an NCIS crossover. Generally, you need someone to die to land one of those. Not, however, a major character.
Author's Notes: This is a belated birthday present for [info]ladyholder, who wanted both an SGA/NCIS crossover, and more of G,bnF; she also ended up con-critting along the way. Now, as fair warning, this is my first NCIS piece. It's set somewhere in late 2006/2007, but the only spoilers are casting-related (since I haven't seen S3 or 4 yet). While basic knowledge of the Bridges universe in general (and G,bnF in particular) is useful, it is not essential to enjoy this.

Summary: Tony hated desk duty. )

Title: Choice
Author: [info]miriel
Rating: PG?
Spoilers: Rising.
Author's Notes: Written for the Doppleganger challenge over on [info]sga_flashfic. A concept I've wanted to play with, and have never gotten around to really fulfilling. This isn't what I'd been planning for this, but I think it works passably. YMMV. 1796 Words. Written about John Sheppard b/c [info]beanie_j asked for John Gen for her birthday (which was yesterday(.
So apparently my complete and total writer's block is somewhat dispersed, although in reality I have no idea where this came from. At all.

Summary: It might not have been much, but John liked the freedoms of working on the ice...

Title: Memoirs Shorts
Universe: Memoirs
Author: [info]miriel
Rating: Ranges from PG-R
Pairings: Lorne/Novak, Lorne/Parrish, McKay/Sheppard
Author's Note: None of these are new, per se; what's new is the format. I've gone through and pulled all of the shorts - 1,000 words or less - from the Memoirs universe together on one page for convenience. The page also includes links to the longer pieces in the series at their appropriate chronological position.

Summary: 2006 to 2024, in glimpses
